As HH put it......... It was a cracking day!
I had quite forgotten what you are all like when you get together in a crowd & start bouncing stories round - and off each other. As the day wore on they got taller & taller, but I don't think more improbable.
The boys got very emotional after lunch and just had to wander off to the Captain's Cabin where the Pope actually put his hand in his pocket & bought everyone a drink!!!
Then it was off to the Wessie, with Davie bunging a HUGE kitty behind the bar & the serious drinking got going.
We had a very charming nun pay us a visit, but the Pope was most ungracious. Although it was noted at one stage that the holy vestments seemed to have sprung a damp patch. She definitely earned every penny of her fee!!!!
There were a number of official photographers & the Tel is threatening to post them on to some sort of website (now more than a threat - tg).
Met Alice's new wife - very pretty, very charming. Christine slipped into an early decline & dragged out the Beatles Greatest Hits. But there just wasn't enough spare totty to really get the dancing going. We'd had some sort of bagroom line dancing event before that - interesting, but not a communal event.
I have to admit that I woosed out in the end & sloped off leaving a hardcore being propped up by the bar of the Wessie (and yes, I do mean that way round) - The Hughes, Mabel, the Greek, Duffers, the man himself (and some mate) ...................
